2021 Year End Review

Grand Depart - photo by Conan Thai

2021 was quite a year for us all, and thankfully, we got back to life on the trail. We completed seven trail stewardship events, including breaking ground on the Fugrass connector, Winter Rim reroute, and made huge strides with the 3-year Watson Fire Rehab project. In April we were proud to offer our first ever BIPOC scholarship, where we offered five $1000 scholarships. July brought the first-ever Grand Depart, while abbreviated due to fire closures, and cut short because of the growing Bootleg fire.

Almost as quickly as wildfires burn, understory grows and wildflowers bloom as the forest quickly recovers. Like this cycle of rebirth, we’re even more motivated to do the work to keep the Oregon Timber Trail open for all to enjoy. If the past two years have taught us anything, it’s the importance of our wild spaces and the healing power of days spent outside, breathing fresh air and simply playing. We’re proud of our accomplishments, and we cherish the community that has come together to support this project. A dedicated board of 12 passionate mountain bikers and trail advocates is hard at work making plans for 2022. We can’t wait to see your smiling faces at educational events, stewardship parties, and much more.

This post also marks the beginning of our year-end fundraising campaign. For those that have already given…thank you. If you have yet to donate, today is the day! We have a couple of great gifts as incentives. Breaking ground on new projects, offering educational classes, or doing further fire rehabilitation is dependent on your support. And finally, to our company sponsors…thank you. We’re grateful for your partnership. We couldn’t keep this 670-mile dream alive without your support. We’re thrilled to have you all along for the ride! Here’s to a fantastic new year! Thank you all!
